Trump lashes out as top-secret intelligence report shows truth behind damage to Iran nuclear sites

President Donald Trump has responded to questions surrounding the recent U.S. military operation targeting three Iranian nuclear facilities, reaffirming his confidence in the missionโ€™s execution and results.

The operationโ€”reportedly named Operation Midnight Hammerโ€”involved coordinated strikes on the Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan sites. Carried out over the weekend, the mission was supported by more than 100 aircraft, including advanced B-2 stealth bombers, according to reports from senior defense officials.

Initially hailed by the White House as a โ€œmajor success,โ€ the mission is now facing scrutiny following emerging expert analyses and reported assessments from within the intelligence community.

Dr. Jeffrey Lewis, Director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program at the Middlebury Institute, offered perspective in an interview with The Independent. โ€œFordow has symbolic value, but itโ€™s not the only facility associated with Iranโ€™s nuclear program,โ€ Lewis noted. He also suggested that Iran may have taken precautionary measures in the lead-up to the strikes, potentially limiting the impact on core infrastructure.

A preliminary assessment reportedly conducted by the Defense Intelligence Agencyโ€”as cited by CNNโ€”suggests that portions of Iranโ€™s enriched uranium stockpile may still be intact. Two officials familiar with the classified evaluation indicated that further actions could be considered to address the broader nuclear development capabilities.

The White House, however, strongly disputed the reportโ€™s implications. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the claims โ€œflat-out wrong,โ€ adding that they appear to stem from unverified information and do not reflect the official analysis of the Department of Defense.

โ€œThis was a well-planned and precisely executed operation,โ€ Leavitt stated during a press briefing. โ€œThe mission targeted critical infrastructure with precision-guided munitions, and early data suggests our objectives were met.โ€

President Trump also responded via his social platform, reiterating his stance that the operation was a success. He criticized what he called โ€œmisleading media coverageโ€ and praised the skill and dedication of the service members involved.

โ€œThe individuals who carried out this mission are true professionals, and their commitment should be recognized,โ€ Trump wrote. โ€œThis operation sent a clear message about the United Statesโ€™ position on nuclear nonproliferation and regional stability.โ€

As with any significant military action, public and expert evaluations continue to unfold. The broader implications for U.S.โ€“Iran relations remain uncertain, but officials say efforts will continue to monitor the situation and pursue diplomatic strategies alongside defense preparedness.
