In a desperate move to stay afloat, Logan’s Roadhouse has fired all employees and is closing 261 locations. Instead of adapting to take-out and delivery, the company opted to cut payroll and benefits amid the economic collapse. Logan’s Roadhouse, part of CraftWorks Holdings, also saw its CEO, Hazem Ouf, fired for misappropriating $7 million in sales taxes. The company, struggling with Chapter 11 bankruptcy even before the pandemic, now faces criticism for leaving around 18,000 workers without jobs or healthcare during a global crisis. The new CEO, Marc Buehler, quickly moved to terminate employees and cut benefits, forcing many to seek alternative health insurance options. Although CraftWorks Foundation has offered some support through its HOPE Program, many are questioning whether companies should prioritize their workers or their bottom line in such challenging times.
