Lax Security Questioned After Charlie Kirk Shooting
Following the fatal shooting of political activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10,
witnesses have raised concerns about poor security at the event. Attendee Tyler McGettigan said,
“No one checked the barcode or the QR code. There was no checkpoint to get in.”
Shooter Still at Large
Kirk was shot in the neck while speaking, reportedly by a gunman on a nearby rooftop.
Police initially detained two suspects but released them. Despite earlier claims,
FBI Director Kash Patel’s statement that “the subject… is now in custody” appears to have been incorrect.
Footage and Audio Surface
Videos of the moment circulated online before news outlets reported the shooting.
Dispatch audio mentioned a person on a rooftop wearing “jeans, a black shirt and a black vest.”
Witness Accounts Echo Security Concerns
“There were no metal detectors,” said attendee Justin Hickens. A Turning Point USA member added,
“There didn’t appear to be a whole lot of security.”
