Tropical Storm Humberto has intensified into a category 4 hurricane,
The storm, the eighth of the season, formed earlier this week and is now producing dangerous windswells across the Atlantic.
FOX Weather’s Bryan Norcross advised:
“Everyone in the Bahamas and along the East Coast from Florida to the mid-Atlantic should plan to stay informed this weekend.”
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), a category 4 storm signals “catastrophic devastation.”
The NHC warns: “Most trees will be snapped or uprooted and power poles downed…
Power outages will last weeks to possibly months. Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months.”
While Humberto is not expected to make landfall in the U.S.,
it is already creating hazardous rip currents and waves threatening the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and nearby islands. Experts are also monitoring the Fujiwhara Effect, which could cause Humberto to interact with another developing storm
