A Father’s Lesson in Love and Letting Go
When my wife, Sarah, asked me to stay away for a few weeks,
I didn’t understand. Our three-year-old daughter,
Allie, and I were inseparable. Sarah hoped time apart would help her bond more with Allie,
so I reluctantly agreed to stay with a friend for a week.
Each night, I called home, missing Allie’s laughter.
By the fifth day, I couldn’t wait any longer and went home with her favorite meal —
only to find Sarah with a coworker, their closeness revealing the real reason for my absence.
Though the pain was deep, I chose to focus on Allie.
She deserved peace, not conflict.
Over time, Sarah and I rebuilt a new kind of family —
not as partners, but as co-parents devoted to her happiness.
When Allie asked, “Daddy, will you always be here?”
I promised, “Always.” Love, in its truest form, endures.
