Tragic Boating Crash in Miami Claims Two Young Lives
A boating accident on July 28, 2025, in Biscayne Bay left two girls deadโ13-year-old Erin Victoria Ko Han and 7-year-old Mila Yankelevichโafter a 60-foot barge collided with their 17-foot sailboat during a youth summer camp. The crash also left two other children critically injured.
A Fatherโs Grief
Erinโs father, Pil Jye Ko, emotionally recalled her last words:ย โSee you later, Daddy and Mommy.โย He described her asย โa perfect daughterโย and said,ย โShe was all we had.โย Upon reaching the hospital, he was devastated to find her lifeless and severely injured:ย โShe had so many injuries on her head, her arms, her legsโeverywhere.โ
Remembering Erin
Erin, born in Chile to a Korean family, had recently moved to Miami. She spoke several languages and enjoyed volleyball and swimming. Her school and the Chilean Consulate expressed deep condolences.
A Call for Justic
Pil demanded answers, stating,ย โTwo girls are gone, and two other children are in critical condition. This canโt happen.โ
