Hey everyone, Iย hadย to bring this memory here because my friends absolutely refuse to believe me.ย
And honestly, I donโt blame them โ it sounds straight-up unbelievable by todayโs standards.
So picture this: Before the days of disposable diapers, scented wipes, fancy diaper genies, and all the โmust-haveโ baby gearโฆ our parents were out here doing the parenting hard mode version.
My mom (and probably a whole generation of moms and grandmas) had a diaper routine that honestly feels like something from a survival show. She used to take the dirty cloth diapers โ yes, THAT kind โ and rinse them in the toilet. Like, right in the bowl. Sheโd swish them around, wring them out with her bare hands, and then toss them into the diaper pail until wash day rolled around.
But the more I think about it, the more I realize how unbelievably resourceful and tough parents were back then. No shortcuts, no disposables, no stain-fighting detergent commercials promising miracles. Just grit, practicality, and doing whatever needed to be done.
Today we complain if the wipes are cold or if the diaper pail smells a little funky. Back then? They were basically doing laundry triage in the bathroom.
So now Iโm wonderingโฆ did anyone elseโs mom or grandma do this? Please tell me Iโm not the only one with this core memory sitting in my brain rent-free.
