Stephen Colbert May Leave U.S. After CBS Firing
Stephen Colbert is considering leaving the U.S. after his sudden firing from The Late Show, calling it a “gut punch.
” Reflecting on his exit, Colbert said, “Now I understand why Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres left.
Sometimes, you just have to get out.”
Known for his fearless political satire, Colbert’s outspoken voice often clashed with CBS’s direction.
His comparison to Rosie and Ellen—both of whom stepped away from American media due to backlash—struck a nerve.
“You don’t really understand until it happens to you,” he admitted.
The firing shocked fans and peers alike. Samantha Bee tweeted,
“We cannot afford to lose voices like Stephen’s not to firing, and not to exile.”
Colbert is unsure what’s next: “I don’t know if this is a farewell or just a pause…
