Pamela Salem, ‘EastEnders’ and James Bond Actress, Dies at 80
Pamela Salem, the beloved British actress known for her roles in EastEnders,
Doctor Who, and James Bond, has died at age 80. She passed away peacefully at her Surfside, Florida home.
Born in India in 1944, Salem studied at the University of Heidelberg and
trained at the Central School of Drama before performing in repertory theater in Chesterfield and York.
She built a long career on stage, television, and film,
earning praise for her performances in plays by Shakespeare, Chekhov, and Pinter.
Her best-known film role was Miss Moneypenny in Never Say Never Again (1983) alongside Sean Connery,
and she appeared in 37 episodes of EastEnders as Joanne Francis between 1988 and 1989.
