Months later, Jack took me to a fancy restaurant. The night started warmly, but nearby, three wealthy women began mocking the waitress.

The women fell silent as the room supported Jack. Soon, half the restaurant was clapping, and the manager asked the women to leave, telling them their meals were free but “so was the door.”

The waitress whispered a shaky “thank you” to Jack, who also ensured she wouldn’t lose her job by speaking privately with the manager.
When he returned, he said simply, “She’s safe. She’s not losing her job.” That night, I realized how rare Jack was. Not only did he stand against cruelty, but he also “made sure kindness followed through.” Looking at him, I knew I had fallen completely in love.
