A new phrase has younger generations laughing and older ones completely lost — “six-seven.”
The viral expression, often written as “6-7,” exploded on TikTok after
hip-hop artist Skrilla’s 2024 song Doot Doot, where he raps, “6-7, I just bipped right on the highway.”
So what does it mean? Absolutely nothing — and that’s the point.
As TikTok creator Mr. Lindsay explains, “‘Six seven’ is just a reference to a meme.
There’s no real meaning to it. It is a number that is fun to say… with the hand motions.”
But not everyone’s amused. Teachers say the trend has become disruptive in classrooms.
“A student shouted ‘six’—and the entire class erupted with ‘6-7,’” recalled elementary teacher Kaitlyn Biernacki.
One eighth-grade teacher even banned it, saying, “It was funny at first, but now it’s just old.”
Still, for Gen Z, the nonsense only makes it funnier.
