Omar Faces Tough Discipline From GO

GOP Push to Remove Omar

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) announced plans to introduce a resolution Monday to remove Rep.

Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) from the House Budget Committee and the Education and Workforce Committee, citing her remarks after Charlie Kirkโ€™s assassination.

Omarโ€™s Comments

In an interview with progressive outlet Zeteo, Omar criticized Kirkโ€™s past commentary, saying he had โ€œdownplayed slaveryโ€

and argued โ€œJuneteenth shouldnโ€™t exist.โ€ She added: โ€œThere is nothing more effed upโ€ฆ than to completely pretend thatโ€ฆ

his words and actions have not been recorded and in existence for the last decade.โ€

Pushback and Clarification

Republicans accused her of disparaging Kirk. Omar countered that her

comments were taken out of context, stressing she found his death โ€œmortifying.โ€

Carterโ€™s Response

Carter told Fox News Digital: โ€œDisparaging Charlie Kirkโ€™s legacy, a God-fearing, honorable manโ€ฆ

is disgusting.โ€ He added, โ€œCommittees are for serious lawmakers, not hate-spewing politicians.โ€
