Old Men Sitting On A Bench…We’ve chuckled

Unexpected Success Through Humor

Michael, a young man from Montana, moves to New York and lands a sales job in a large department store.

After his first day, his boss asks, “How many customers bought something from you today?”

When Michael answers, “One,” the boss explodes, saying, “One sale a day might have been acceptable in Montana, but you’re not in the countryside any more, son.

Get it together, or get out!”

Things change when the boss asks about the value of the sale.

Michael replies, “$124,088.30.” Shocked, the boss demands an explanation.

Michael explains he sold fish hooks, a fishing rod, a boat, and a truck.

The stunned boss asks, “A guy came to buy fish hooks — and you sold him a boat and a new truck?”

Michael clarifies with humor: “The guy came to buy tampons for his girlfriend… ‘Dude, your weekend’s shot, you should go fishing.’”

His creativity earns him a promotion and proves that smart thinking can lead to unexpected success.
