Old Man Goes to Visit Daughter

Richard visits his daughter Deidre for his 80th birthday, only to find her distressed. She sends him away, claiming work demands.

โ€œI came to celebrate my birthday with youโ€ฆitโ€™s the big eight-o! Whatโ€™s wrong, honey?โ€

Peeking through her windows, Richard witnesses two men threatening Deidre about overdue loan repayments.

โ€œPeople who owe Mr. Marco money donโ€™t have a great life expectancy.โ€

To save Deidre, Richard agrees to repay her $80,000 debt through a risky deal involving smuggling cars across the border.

โ€œI need to mortgage my houseโ€ฆI donโ€™t understand why you didnโ€™t come to me first, Deidre.โ€

In a tense meeting at a club, Richard offers $15,000 for the damaged car, enraging Mr. Marco.

โ€œAfter you come in here and tell me you sank the $100,000 shipment hidden in that car?โ€

As the situation intensifies, police intervention saves Richard and Deidre. Unbeknownst to them, the sinking of the car leads to the gangโ€™s downfall.

โ€œIf we hadnโ€™t found a car full of contraband in the river, we wouldnโ€™t have been here to rescue you.โ€

Deidre apologizes for not confiding in her father, and Richard reassures her, expressing a wish for a closer relationship.

โ€œMaybe your business idea didnโ€™t work out as well as youโ€™d hoped, but you tried, Deidre.โ€
