New Trump Poll Reveals What Americans Really Thinkโ5 Months Into His Second Term
A new Quinnipiac University poll reveals how Americans view Donald Trump just five months after his return to the White House. After defeating Kamala Harris last November, Trump vowed to take a different path from his predecessor, Joe Bidenโand he wasted no time doing it.
A Fast-Paced Start With Controversial Moves
Since taking office again, Trump has made sweeping changesโmany sparking intense debate. His latest initiative, the Big Beautiful Bill, triggered a very public clash with Elon Musk, who labeled the bill an โabomination.โ
Meanwhile, Trumpโs crackdown on immigration has fueled national unrest. In Los Angeles, anti-ICE protests erupted following a series of federal raids, leading to growing tensions between law enforcement and demonstrators.
The Numbers Are In: America Weighs In
Despite his efforts to โMake America Great Again,โ many Americans remain unconvinced. The poll, released June 11, shows:
38% approve of Trumpโs performance
54% disapprove overall
Economy: Failing to Impress
Only 38% of respondents support Trumpโs handling of trade and the broader economyโa weak point in his leadership so far.
Immigration: Support Slips
Even in areas where Trump previously polled well, such as immigration, approval has dropped. Only 43% back his approach, while 54% disapprove.
Ukraine-Russia War: Public Discontent
Americans remain largely dissatisfied with Trumpโs stance on the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Just 34% approve of how heโs handling the situation.
Polling analyst Tim Malloy noted:
โAs the Russia-Ukraine war grinds through its third year, Americans make it clear they have little appetite for the way the Trump administration is handling the situation.โ
Elon Musk & DOGE: A Republican Divide
The poll also touched on Elon Muskโs role in the administration. Malloy added:
โThough Musk isnโt as popular with Republicans as he once was, he and DOGE still get a hearty high five from a healthy majority of Republicans.โ
What Does It All Mean?
Low approval ratings have prompted political strategist James Carville to predict a collapse of Trumpโs administration. According to him, Democrats may not need to do muchโjust โplay possumโ and wait.
