Hayes Under Fire
MSNBC’s Chris Hayes is facing criticism for hypocrisy after defending Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension as a free speech issue.
On Wednesday, he argued the decision “renders the First Amendment meaningless.”
Yet, clips from 2023 show Hayes celebrating Fox’s firing of
Tucker Carlson, saying those who “dehumanize” others eventually become “unpopular.”
Kimmel’s Uncertain Future
Insiders suggest Jimmy Kimmel Live! could return soon,
but Sinclair Broadcast Group refuses to reinstate it unless Kimmel donates to Turning Point USA,
founded by the late Charlie Kirk. For now, Sinclair plans to air a Kirk tribute instead.
Trump and FCC Reaction
Donald Trump mocked Kimmel’s suspension, saying:
“He was fired because of bad ratings more than anything else.”
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has also launched investigations into major networks, raising stakes for ABC, Disney, and Nexstar.
Bigger Debate
The controversy fuels a larger question: is free speech applied consistently, or only when convenient?
