Growing Doubts About Jeffriesโ€™ Leadership

Dozens of Democratic House candidates toldย Axiosย they may not

back Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) for party leader, signaling unrest as the 2026 election nears.

Survey Results

Out of 113 Democratic candidates contacted, 20 said they wouldnโ€™t vote for Jeffries,

five were likely to oppose him, and 57 refused to commit.

Only 24 pledged firm support. Many cited concerns about ideology, messaging, and leadership style.
