George Strait just raised over $6.25 million for flood victims and brought Garth Brooks, Bubba, and the whole state of Texas to tears

In the wake of catastrophic floods across Texas Hill Country, country music legend George Strait hosted a powerful night of music and compassion, raising over $6.25 million (and counting) for flood relief efforts.

Held on Sunday, July 27, at Estancia at Thunder Valley in Boerne, Texas, the sold-out benefit concertโ€”organized by Strait and his longtime Vaqueros del Mar partner Tom Cusickโ€”welcomed 1,200 guests for an intimate and emotional evening.

A Night of Faith, Music, and Support
The event opened with performances from the Texas Jamm Band, featuring members of Straitโ€™s Ace in the Hole Band, followed by Kyle Park, William Beckmann, Hudson Westbrook, and Ray Benson.

Strait and Cusick then addressed the crowd before Pastor Max Lucado delivered a heartfelt message about finding Godโ€™s perspective during tragedy:

โ€œOne side of life looks like knots and chaos,โ€ Lucado said. โ€œBut flip it over, and the message reads โ€˜God is love.โ€™โ€

Texas Governor Greg Abbott also commended the dedication of first responders, noting that over 1,000 individuals had been rescued or evacuated thanks to their efforts.

Fundraising Through Music & Auction
A live auction further boosted the nightโ€™s fundraising, just ahead of headlining performances by Wade Bowen, Randy Houser, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, and Jamey Johnson.

Strait then took the stage for a 15-song set featuring fan favorites and powerful collaborations:

โ€œThe Weight of the Badgeโ€

โ€œThe Firemanโ€ (with Garth Brooks, honoring first responders)

โ€œGive It Awayโ€ (with Jamey Johnson)

โ€œHere For A Good Timeโ€ (with Dean Dillon and Bubba Strait)

He closed with his timeless farewell ballad, โ€œThe Cowboy Rides Away.โ€

How to Help
All proceeds benefit the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to directly supporting families impacted by the floods and aiding in ongoing recovery.
