Forrest Gump star Gary Sinise shared the heartbreaking news of his son’s death, announcing that McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise passed away at age 33 after a long battle with cancer.

Mac was diagnosed with a rare cancer called chordoma on August 8, 2018, just months after his mother, Moira, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. While Moira’s treatment was successful, Mac’s condition steadily worsened.

Over time, the illness severely affected his mobility, eventually leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Despite multiple surgeries and increasing physical challenges, Mac continued to face his illness with determination.

In an emotional statement, Gary Sinise expressed the depth of his grief, describing the loss of a child as unimaginably painful. He shared compassion for other families who have experienced similar loss.

Sinise reflected on the family’s five-and-a-half-year cancer journey, noting that while their hearts ache, they take comfort in knowing Mac is no longer suffering and are inspired by his strength and perseverance.

Tributes poured in from fellow celebrities, including Angie Harmon and Alyssa Milano, who shared messages of love, prayers, and support for Sinise and his family.

Despite his illness, Mac lived a purposeful life. He worked with the Gary Sinise Foundation, pursued music passionately, and performed as a drummer alongside his father in the Lt. Dan Band.

Before his passing, Mac completed an album titled Resurrection & Revival, which the family plans to release. He was laid to rest on January 5, leaving behind a legacy of courage, creativity, and resilience.
