Jimmy Kimmel Live! Pulled Off Air

Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show has been suspended indefinitely.

On Wednesday, ABC confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would be preempted “for the foreseeable future.”

The move came after backlash to Kimmel’s comments about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Nexstar Media Group explained: “Nexstar’s owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC

Television Network will preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the foreseeable future beginning with tonight’s show.”

The company added it “strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk.”

Kimmel’s Controversial Remarks

On Monday, Kimmel criticized how Kirk’s death was being politicized.

He said, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything

other than one of them.” He also mocked President Trump’s reaction, saying,

“This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend.

This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”

Backlash and FCC Warning

The comments sparked widespread criticism. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr warned ABC affiliates could face penalties if they continued to air the show.

“We licensed broadcasters are running the possibility of fines or license revocations from the FCC if we continue to run content with a pattern of news distortion,” Carr said.

Trump Praises Cancellation

Donald Trump, currently on a state visit to the UK, praised ABC’s move. On Truth Social, he wrote:

“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED… Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible.” Trump, who has long criticized late-night hosts, called both Kimmel and Seth Meyers “two total losers.”
