Trump Urges DOJ to Prosecute Obama Over 2016 Election Intelligence
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump called on the Department of Justice to launch legal action against former President Barack Obama. Trump claimed Obama orchestrated an intelligence report suggesting Russian interference in the 2016 election aimed to help Trump win.
โAfter what they did to me, itโs time to go after people. Obama has been caught directly,โ Trump said during a meeting in the Oval Office with Philippine President Ferdinand โBongbongโ Marcos Jr.
Trump Labels Obama โLeader of the Gangโ Behind Alleged Plot
Trump accused Obama, who served from 2009 to 2017, of leading the effort to create the controversial intelligence assessment. He said, โIf you look at those papers, they have them stone cold, and it was President Obamaโฆ the leader of the gang was Barack Hussein Obama.โ
He added, โItโs criminal at the highest level. Joe Biden, James Comey, James Clapper, John Brennan โ the whole group was involved.โ Trump called the actions โtre.as.onโ and said they tried to steal and obfuscate the election.
Criminal Referral Filed by Tulsi Gabbard
This call for prosecution follows a criminal referral by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard to Attorney General Pam Bondi. Gabbard alleges Obama violated the law by commissioning a post-election intelligence assessment designed to undermine Trumpโs victory.
According to Gabbardโs documents, intelligence agencies were directed โat the Presidentโs requestโ to report on Russiaโs methods and actions to influence the 2016 election.
Mueller Investigation Found No Conspiracy
During Trumpโs first term, the FBI and Congress investigated his campaignโs ties to Russia. Special Counsel Robert Muellerโs two-year probe concluded there was no criminal conspiracy between Trump and Russia.
Despite this, Trump insists, โLook, heโs guilty. Itโs not a question.โ He called the intelligence effort a โseditiousโ coup led by Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Comments During Meeting with Philippine President
Addressing the issue before Marcos Jr., Trump said, โThis man has seen some pretty rough countries, but youโve never seen anything like it.โ
He also touched on ongoing interest in the Jeffrey Epstein case and criticized media coverage of co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell, urging reporters to โstop talking about nonsense.โ
More Documents Expected from Gabbard
Trump revealed that Gabbard is preparing to release thousands of additional documents. He accused Clinton and Democrats of spending $12 million on a โtotal fake reportโ by ex-MI6 spy Christopher Steele. Trump called it โmade-up fictionโ used against him.
He praised the media for withholding this information before the 2016 election but hinted he might reconsider prosecuting Clinton for alleged mishandling of classified information.
Trump Calls Obama Mastermind Behind Election Manipulation
Trump concluded by labeling Obama as the mastermind behind an effort to manipulate the election, with Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, James Comey, James Clapper, and others complicit. He claimed all their names are documented and that โthey likely believed classifying this information would hide it indefinitely โ but it does not work that way.โ
