Climber Falls to Death While Scaling Yosemiteโs El Capitan
Renowned 23-year-old Alaskan climber Balin Miller tragically fell to
his death while attempting to scale El Capitan in Yosemite National Park on October 1.
He had been live-streaming parts of his climb in the days before the accident.
Millerโs mother, Jeanine Girard-Moorman, confirmed his death, writing on Facebook:
โIt is with a heavy heart I have to tell you my incredible son Balin Miller died during a climbing accident today.โ
She added, โMy heart is shattered in a million piecesโฆ I love him so much.โ
According to his brother, Miller was rope soloing the 2,400-foot Sea of Dreams route when he may have slipped off the end of his rope.
Park officials said rangers โresponded immediately.โ His death marks Yosemiteโs third fatal climbing accident this summer, highlighting the dangers of one of the worldโs toughest ascents.
