Politically Motivated Shootings Shock Minnesota
Two Minnesota lawmakers, former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and Senator John Hoffman, were targeted in politically driven shootings. Hortman and her husband were killed at home, while Hoffman and his wife survived an earlier attack.
Masked Gunman Impersonates Police
The FBI released images of suspect Vance Luther Boelter, 57, dressed as a police officer. “It was not a real police officer,” said Police Chief Mark Bruley. The assailant opened fire on responding officers and fled.
Evidence Reveals Extremist Motive
A manifesto, a hit list of 70 names, and “No Kings” flyers were found in Boelter’s car. Governor Tim Walz called it “a politically motivated assassination.”
Final Message Before Attacks
Boelter told roommates, “I’ll be dead shortly… I love you guys and I’m sorry for all the trouble this has caused.”
