SCOTUS Denies Request To Consider Climate Lawsuits!

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear challenges to state and local lawsuits against oil companies seeking compensation for climate change-related damages.
These lawsuits, which critics argue push anti-fossil fuel policies, could lead to billions in payouts, ultimately affecting consumers.
O.H. Skinner, from the Alliance for Consumers, warned that such lawsuits could drive up costs for customers and contribute to a shift toward the Green New Deal through court orders. A coalition of 19 states filed a constitutional challenge to these lawsuits, which target energy companies under state nuisance laws.
The Biden administration has argued that the cases aren’t ready for Supreme Court review, while opponents claim they are fueled by dark money from liberal groups aiming to regulate energy through them.
