On my 18th birthday, a letter from my late mother revealed a life-altering secret: Stephen, my stepfather, was actually my biological father. Growing up, I saw Stephen as a caring but distant figure after my mom’s death. I would’ve never thought that he was biologically related to me because we do not share the same features and in fact look very different but a little bit of research told me that it was, in fact possible.
