Tragic Helicopter Crash
Illinois gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey and his wife
Cindy faced heartbreak on October 22 when their son Zachary,
his wife Kelsey, and their children, Vada Rose, 12, and Samuel, 7, died in a helicopter crash in Montana.
Their other grandson, Finn, 10, was safe. “Darren and Cindy are heartbroken by this unimaginable loss.
They are finding comfort in their faith, their family, and the prayers of so many,” the campaign said.
Investigation Underway
The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed the Robinson Helicopters R66 went down near Ekalaka, Montana.
Zachary was piloting the helicopter. Aaron Del Mar, Darren’s running mate, said, “I’m heartbroken.
This is something that’s never supposed to happen… it’s soul-crushing.”
Faith and Service
Zachary earned his pilot’s license through a Christian ministry and served as a youth pastor.
Aaron recalled, “He just was a good guy.”
The family’s work in farming, ministry, and community service reflected their dedication.
Support and Legacy
Aaron emphasized, “The outpour of support and prayers is something I’ve never seen.”
He hopes Finn will grow up knowing the family’s legacy of love, service, and faith.
