Whistleblower Accuses Adam Schiff of Approving Classified Leaks
Newly declassified FBI documents have sparked renewed controversy over
Senator Adam Schiff’s role in leaking classified information during the Trump-Russia investigation.
A Democratic intelligence officer who worked for the House Intelligence Committee told the
FBI that between 2017 and 2023,
Schiff approved the release of secret material to politically damage then-President Donald Trump.
“In this meeting, SCHIFF stated the group would leak classified information which was derogatory
to President of the United States DONALD J. TRUMP,” one FBI interview summary said.
The whistleblower also claimed Schiff promised him the role of CIA Director if Hillary Clinton won the 2016 election.
Swalwell Named as Alleged Source
The whistleblower identified Rep. Eric Swalwell as the likely direct source of the leaks,
stating they were intended to boost the “Russiagate” narrative.
Swalwell denied any wrongdoing and accused FBI Director Kash Patel of targeting him for political reasons.
The whistleblower claimed they were fired after reporting their concerns to federal officials.
Media Involvement Alleged
Investigative journalist Paul Sperry reported that the leaks may have been directed to Washington Post reporter Ellen Nakashima.
He cited declassified records showing Nakashima worked closely with intelligence officials,
including former CIA Director John Brennan, to publish key Russia probe stories that shaped public opinion during 2016–2017.
Legal and Political Fallout Uncertain
Critics argue Schiff’s alleged actions, if true, would represent a major breach of national security.
The House Intelligence Committee handles highly sensitive data, and leaks could carry serious legal consequences.
Schiff has consistently denied any wrongdoing, saying his critics aim to “undermine legitimate oversight” of the Trump administration. His office has not yet responded to the latest allegations.
