Whistleblower’s Claims Against Schiff
A Democrat whistleblower, backed by FBI interview reports,
alleges Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) authorized leaking classified intelligence during the
Trump–Russia investigation to damage then-President Trump.
The whistleblower said Schiff told staff “the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President… Trump” and use it “to indict President Trump.”
Objections and Fallout
The source claimed he objected, calling the plan “unethical and possibly treasonous,” but was assured leaks would not be traced.
He identified Rep. Eric Swalwell as a possible conduit and said he was later fired after going to the FBI.
Legal Risks
Former U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman warned Schiff could face severe penalties if charged. “The fine is up to $250,000 for every leak that’s charged,” he said, adding some cases could mean “up to 20 years in federal prison.”
FBI Criticism
Critics accuse the FBI, led by Director Christopher Wray, of ignoring misconduct by political figures while targeting opponents. Schiff has not responded to the new allegations.
