Kai Trump Opens Up About Her Bond With Grandpa
Kai Trump is giving fans a rare glimpse into her relationship with her grandfather, President Donald Trump. Their connection centers on family, golf, and perseverance.
Appearing on Fox & Friends on July 15, the teenager discussed how her grandfather has influenced her love of golf and taught her important life lessons.
“He taught me to just keep on working at it,” Kai told Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt. “Honestly, I’ve gotten a lot better in past years with golf, but he really just taught me to keep fighting and practicing.”
Beyond the Green: A Family Connection
For Kai, their bond goes beyond sports. “I love playing golf… it’s something that we share, a special bond together,” she explained.
President Trump has publicly praised Kai’s golf skills, calling her a “fantastic” player and predicting she might one day beat him. In April, after Kai attended UFC 314, Trump said:
“She’s doing really well, and she wins a lot of matches. Someday she’ll be able to beat her grandfather, but I’m not sure when… it might be a long time.”
Golf has long been a Trump family tradition, and Kai’s comments offered a personal perspective on their shared hobby.
Social Media Reacts
Following Kai’s interview, clips of her remarks about their “special bond” circulated on X (formerly Twitter). Reactions were mixed.
Some users criticized President Trump, referencing past reports of him bending the rules during golf. Sportswriter Rick Reilly, for example, described unusual moves while playing with Trump in 2024. Trump’s representatives denied these claims.
Other reactions focused on Kai herself, praising her composure and golf talent during the interview.
A Grandfather–Granddaughter Connection
Despite online commentary, Kai’s appearance highlighted a quieter side of President Trump: a grandfather sharing time and traditions with his family.
For Kai, their bond isn’t about politics or headlines. It’s about patience, practice, and the game they love.
“It’s something that we share,” she said. “A special bond together.”
