Trump Admin Fires Top FBI Officials Linked to Jan. 6 Probe
The Trump administration has fired three senior FBI officials tied to the Capitol riot investigation, signaling a crackdown on dissent within the Bureau. Politico reports that Brian Driscoll, Steven Jensen, and Walter Giardina were all dismissed.
Driscoll, who briefly led the FBI, wrote: “Last night I was informed that tomorrow will be my last day in the FBI… I regret nothing.” He had refused to release names of staff involved in the Jan. 6 probe.
Jensen, head of the Washington Field Office, said in his farewell, “Continue to be bold and aggressive in the pursuit of justice… Be the FBI.”
Giardina, involved in the Mueller and Navarro cases, was also removed.
The FBI Agents Association called the firings unjust: “They followed the law.” Sen. Mark Warner warned of a “disturbing pattern of retaliation.”
More dismissals are expected as Trump’s DOJ asserts control.
