Joe Kent Appointed Director of National Counterterrorism Center
Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, announced Joe Kent as the new Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). A former Army Ranger and CIA officer, Kent will lead efforts to combat domestic terrorism and coordinate with agencies like the FBI and Homeland Security.
“It was an honor to swear in Joe Kent,” Gabbard wrote. She praised his “two decades of military service, including 11 combat deployments,” calling him a “soldier, father, husband, patriot.”
Kent, 45, lost his wife in a 2019 bombing and later ran for Congress. He said, “It’s a profound honor to be confirmed as NCTC Director at this pivotal moment.” He added, “Their sacrifices drive me to lead with relentless focus to keep Americans safe.”
Gabbard also released documents claiming the Obama-era intelligence community misrepresented Russian involvement in the 2016 election to discredit Trump, saying, “the narrative was then used to undermine Trump throughout his first term.”
