Ozzy Osbourne Laid to Rest in Birmingham
Ozzy Osbourne, legendary Black Sabbath frontman known as the “Prince of Darkness,” was honored with a public procession in his hometown of Birmingham before a private funeral.
Fans worldwide gathered as his hearse passed iconic local landmarks.
Emotional Farewell from Family and Fans
The hearse paused at Black Sabbath Bridge, surrounded by tributes. Mayor Zafar Iqbal said, “It was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute.”
Sharon Osbourne and their children read tributes, with Sharon tearfully remembering their 40+ years together.
Purple Tribute for a Metal Icon
Purple flowers surrounded Ozzy’s casket—an homage to his trademark glasses and cover of “Purple Haze.” A cross made of purple blooms adorned the hearse.
Ozzy’s Final Wishes
“I want it to be a celebration, not a mope-fest,” Ozzy once wrote. He joked about funeral pranks and said, “I want it to be a time to say thanks.”
